BENJAMIN KRASNER - PIANIST

 

Benjamin Krasner, a 17-year-old concert pianist, was born into a family of Russian Jewish immigrants who settled in Malibu, California. After 8 years of piano studies under retired Moscow Conservatory Professor Lubov Sorochkina, he began his college education at just 12 years old and graduated at 16 with his Bachelors degree in Piano Performance (with a double major in Economics) from California State University, Northridge under the tutelage of acclaimed piano professor Dr. Dmitry Rachmanov. Benjamin now pursues his Masters degree in Piano Performance and Literature at the Yale School of Music under the tutelage of world renowned Professors Boris Berman and Wei Yi Yang. Benjamin has won numerous regional, state, national, and international music competitions and awards including the Antena 2 Prize at SIPO International Piano Festival in Obidos, Portugal (2016), Los Angeles International Liszt Competition 2014, the Liana Cohen Foundation Music Festival, Southern California Bach Festival, Southwestern Youth Music Festival, and Helen Brown Music Competition. His first musical composition “Wow!” received 1st place at the National PTA reflection competition. When he was 7, Benjamin was invited to Moscow by Vladimir Spivakov to perform at the “Moscow meets Friends” International Music Festival. Later, Benjamin performed at the Telluride International Jazz Festival. He became the youngest laureate in the International Young Musicians Competition “Passion of Music 2008” in Lincoln Center, NY. Oprah’s Search for the World’s Smartest and Most Talented Children selected Benjamin as one of the finalists in 2009. In September 2011, Benjamin became a recipient of the award for Classical Music at the Malibu Music Awards. In 2012, Benjamin became a citizen of the year and received a 2012 Dolphin Award, sponsored by Malibu Times. On June 8, 2014, Benjamin gave a debut performance with Pacific Symphony Orchestra, after winning 1st place and award from the L.A. Philharmonic. Benjamin has given numerous solo concerts for charity and fundraising events to help raise money for non-profit organizations such as the Eye Defects Research Foundation, Malibu Woman’s Club, Japan Relief Fund, and the Jewish University of L.A.
